Introduction

EasyHelper Contact + SMS Backup is the best contacts and SMS management product. It helps you backup and restore contacts and SMS.

With Contact + SMS Backup, you can easily do the following things:

You can export contacts on phone memory and SIM card to a file.

To enter export contacts dialog, click Backup Contacts on main screen.

To specify the file to which you want to export contacts, click Change file path.

This product supports 2 types of file format:

To set the contact types to export, select one of the following options under Contact types to export:

Note: When export finished, we recommend you copy the file to your PC or other storage space for backup. Once your mobile is lost or got damaged, you can get all contacts from the file.

Note: The exported file is a text file with Unicode little-endian encoding. Please don't modify the encoding and file format, otherwise it may cause import failure.

Restore contacts

You can import phone and SIM contacts from the previous file.

To enter import contacts dialog, click Restore Contacts on main screen.

To specify the file from which you want to import contacts, click Change file path.

To set the contact types to import, select one of the following options under Contact types to import:

Note: If SIM(phone) contacts on imported file have already existed on SIM card(phone memory), the contacts will be ignored. The comparison is a full match.

Note: The imported file must be a text file with Unicode little-endian, ANSI or ASCII encoding. We recommend you to use the Unicode little-endian encoding. How to create a text file with Unicode little-endian encoding, please see the appendix.

Note: The imported file needs to conform to designated file format. The file format is attached as appendix.

Backup SMS

You can export SMS to a file.

To enter export SMS dialog, click Backup SMS on main screen.

To specify the file to which you want to export SMS, click Change file path.

To specify the SMS which you want to export, use the stylus to select the check box.

Copy contacts to phone memory

You can copy contacts from SIM card to phone memory.

To copy contacts from SIM card to phone memory, select Menu > Copy SIM contacts to phone.

Note: The name and phone number of a contact on SIM card is assigned to the first name and mobile telephone of a contact on phone memory. The copied contacts are added to the group SIM. It will let you easily sort or order contacts by filter.

Note: If the name of a contact on SIM card is empty, the first name will be filled with SIM#. The # is the index at which the contact is located on SIM card.

Options

SMS messages can be exported to files in sequence.

There are two items (Date&time or Sender/Recipients name) can be used as sort key. Each item has two sequences: Ascending and Descending.

Registration

You need to register EasyHelper Contact + SMS Backup to use it. Unregistered product can handle limited contacts and SMS.

To register the product, select Menu > Register. Type the Registration Key, and then select Done.

Please make sure you installed the correct edition on your device. The "Contact + SMS Backup" is for the Pocket PC platform (This platform has a Touch Screen). And the "Contact + SMS Backup for Smartphone" is for the Smartphone platform (This platform has NOT a Touch Screen).

Appendix

File format for contacts backup

A file can contain many SIM contacts and phone contacts at the same time. The format of two kinds of contact is similar.

Warning: Import may ignore the contacts with invalid contact format.

SIM contact format:
[fill some characters here]

PhoneNumber=fill phone number here

Note: For the above four sections, each section must be in the same line.

The PhoneNumber is required. The Name is optional if contact name is empty.

Phone contact format:

Appendix

How to create a text file with Unicode little-endian encoding

Note: If you edit this text file on a PC, you must use a text editor that can save files in the correct Unicode format, which is not same as a plain ASCII text file.

If you are using Notepad, open the file, and then choose File -> Save As. In the "Save as type" field, choose Text Documents (*.txt). In the Encoding field, choose Unicode. Click Save to save the file.

If you are using Microsoft WordPad, open the file, and then choose File -> Save As. In the "Save as type" field, choose Unicode Text Document. Click Save to save the file.
